Excavation subsequent to fieldwalking has shown that the villa and roundhouses were extensively robbed out during the early19th century, affecting the distribution of all foci.
Although there is material of the mid 1st to early 2nd centuries (phase 1a) present in the assemblage this is most likely to be associated with iron age occupation evident from the geophysical survey in the area to the west of the fieldwalking grids.
It is only in the late 1st to mid 2nd century (phase 1b) that romanised occupation beings to develop, centred on the construction of the excavated round houses.
The 2nd and 3rd centuries (phase 2) are the most active period of occupation in terms of pottery consumption reflecting a larger habitation than previously.
Although the distribution of late 3rd-4th century materials appears to be sparse, it represents a continued and extensive occupation of the site.
